GOLDEN EAGLE FISHING HALL OF FAME 2008

FISHING REPORTS 2008
May 9th-11th
We continue to jig
blues from 5 to as big as 12lbs, well north of shark river inlet in 35-50ft
of water
with a few
stripers in the 38in class coming over the rail as well. Most drifts are a
pick of fish with some drifts
being an all out
blues blitz. The weather has not been a great help in getting the stripers
moving better but we
see it improving.
Bluefishing is pretty good.
We are sailing Daily 7:30 AM-2:30 PM and Fri & Sat Night 7:30PM-2:30AM
Looks like the next few days are going to be a wash out. Wednesday looks
like some improvement.
May 5th-8th
4-8lb bluefish are being taken on
jigs a bit inshore of where we have been and a few stripers have
been coming over the rail with
several keepers taken today May 8th. More tough weather conditions
are in store for Fri with
improvement over the weekend. We will make our first night run of the
season this Saturday night!
April 28th-May 4th
Bluefish continue to build into
the area and we have been able to put good catches together in spite of
tough fishing conditions. Some
drifts produce numerous hook ups with others having no takers. All in all
pretty decent bluefishing which
will continue to improve. Not many Stripers yet! The best fishing is with
AVA47 jigs in 35-50ft of water.
April 21st-27th
We are jigging migrating Blues
from just south of the inlet to points north with mixed sized fish to
around 6lbs. Some drifts produce
multiple hook ups, and others with only a few fish. All in all its pretty
good fishing for April. Only a
few Stripers in the mix as the water temps are still fairly low.
More fish keep moving up and it
will just keep getting better from here!
SAILING DAILY 7:30AM - 2:30 PM /
Nite Blues Coming Soon!
April 18th-20th
A Fair to OK Catch of mix sized
Macks were boated this weekend, mostly small with some mediums and
a few larges mixed in. We will
continue to look for the Macks until the Blues & Stripers turn on. We mixed
the Mackeral fishing up with some
bottom fishing for Ling & Blackfish with good results on Saturday but
fought through really tough
conditions and poor fishing on Sunday. Back to Macks this week coming!
April 12th & 13th
SAT:
Difficult fishing conditions gave us some challenges all day while
fishing for Ling. We did have a
nice mix of Ling, Blackfish &
Pout by the end of the day on several drops on the West side of the
Mudhole.
A few small Mack's made an
appearance giving us some indication that the run may be starting and
the
larger body of fish may be
in the deep. We will fish this Sunday 4/13 out on the East side looking
for
Ling & Blackfish and
trying to find more Mack's.
SUN:Took
a light group of fisherman out today and put together a nice catch
of blackfish, ling & pout
with high hook honors
going to
Kevin Lewis of Clifton, NJ
with 3 keeper blackfish to 5-1/2 lbs and multiple ling.
Mr Ernest Chan
who
visited us from Columbus Ohio took the pool with a 8-1/2 lb
blackfish.
Most of the fish were
caught in and around 100ft of water, as we stayed away from the deep
due to poor anchoring
conditions and reports of spiny dogfish over whelming a few of the
other boats.
We will be shaping up for
more bottom fish, and perhaps mackerel action by mid-week, weather
permitting.
March 22nd & 23rd
